Listen, bew. Sunday hits different when you use it INTENTIONALLY.
It's not just the day before Monday (though we all feel that anxiety creeping in 😅). It's your sacred reset. Your chance to wash away everything that didn't serve you this week and set yourself up for the glow-up that's coming.
After nine years of creating Black Sauce products and traveling the world studying spiritual practices from melanated cultures, I've developed a Sunday ritual that keeps me grounded, glowing, and ready for whatever the week brings.
And today? I'm sharing it with you.
Why Sunday?
Sunday has always been sacred - it's a day of rest across multiple spiritual traditions. But for us? It's also PREPARATION.
Sunday is when you:
Process the week that just ended
Release what no longer serves you
Set intentions for what's coming
Nourish your body, mind, and spirit
Remind yourself that YOU are the priority
Think of it as spiritual meal prep. 💅🏾
The Sunday Reset Ritual (2-3 Hours of Pure Self-Love)
PHASE 1: THE RELEASE (30 minutes)
What You Need:
Journal or voice notes app
Quiet space
Optional: White sage or Palo Santo
What You Do:
Find your space. No TV. No phone scrolling. Just you and your thoughts.
Light your sage or Palo Santo (or just sit in stillness if that's not your practice).
Reflect on the week. Ask yourself:
What drained my energy this week?
What moments made me feel alive?
What am I proud of?
What am I ready to release?
What patterns keep showing up that I need to address?
Write it ALL out or speak it into your voice notes. No filter. No judgment. Just truth.
Tear up the page (if you journaled) or delete the voice note. Or keep it - whatever feels right. The point is you ACKNOWLEDGED it.
Why this works: You can't move forward while carrying last week's weight. This is your energetic shower before your physical one.
PHASE 2: THE CLEANSING (45 minutes - 1 hour)
This is where Black Sauce comes in, bew. 🛁
What You Need:
Your bathtub (or shower if that's what you're working with)
Black Sauce body scrub (like Cabin Fever Body Scrub)
Black Sauce foaming bath butter (like Cranny & Heaux Luxurious Foaming Bath Butter) OR regular bath salts/oils
Black Sauce face & body cleanser (like Skin Porridge)
Candles (white for purification, or whatever color speaks to you)
Optional: Florida Water, rose petals, or herbs for spiritual bathing
What You Do:
Set the scene. Dim lights. Light candles. Put on music that ELEVATES you (I love neo-soul, jazz, or binaural beats).
Run your bath (warm, not scalding). If you're doing a spiritual bath, add:
A splash of Florida Water
Rose petals for self-love
Lavender for peace
Sea salt for purification
A few drops of your favorite essential oil
Before getting in, stand naked in front of the mirror. Look at yourself. Really LOOK. Say out loud:
"I release what no longer serves me."
"I am worthy of rest and care."
"My body is sacred and deserves to be honored."
(Yes, this feels awkward at first. Do it anyway.)
Scrub your body with your Black Sauce body scrub BEFORE getting in the bath. Start at your feet and work UP (symbolically bringing good energy toward you). As you scrub, visualize everything heavy from the week washing away.
Get in the bath. If you're using foaming bath butter, activate it under running water and watch the magic happen. If you're showering, use this time to let the water run over you with INTENTION.
Wash your face and body with Skin Porridge or your cleanser of choice. Slow. Intentional. This isn't a race.
Soak for at least 15-20 minutes. Close your eyes. Breathe deeply. Meditate. Pray. Cry if you need to. Laugh if the mood strikes. This is YOUR time.
When you're ready to get out, pull the plug and STAY IN THE TUB as the water drains. Watch all that heavy energy go down the drain with it. (This is an old spiritual practice and it HITS, bew.)
Why this works: Water is a conduit for energy. You're not just washing your body - you're cleansing your SPIRIT.
PHASE 3: THE NOURISHMENT (30 minutes)
You're clean. You're energetically reset. Now we GLOW. ✨
What You Need:
Black Sauce hair & body oil (choose your vibe - FEVAH for boldness, Grown Azz Woman for confidence, Cozy for comfort)
Black Sauce body butter (Thotumn, Shea Butter Baby, or Gingerbread Heaux)
Black Sauce fragrance roller (for that lasting aura)
Comfortable clothes (or nothing at all - we support that)
What You Do:
Pat yourself dry (don't rub - be gentle with yourself).
While your skin is still slightly damp, apply your oil. Start at your feet again and work up. Massage it in with INTENTION. This isn't just moisturizing - this is ANOINTING yourself. As you apply:
On your feet: "I walk with purpose."
On your legs: "I stand in my power."
On your stomach: "I trust my intuition."
On your chest: "I am open to receive love."
On your arms: "I create my reality."
On your neck and face: "I speak my truth."
Seal it in with body butter. Focus on your driest areas - elbows, knees, feet. Your skin should feel like SILK.
Apply your fragrance roller to pulse points - wrists, behind ears, inside elbows, behind knees. This is your signature. Your energetic calling card.
Look at yourself in the mirror again. This time, you should GLOW. Literally and figuratively. Say: "I am ready. I am worthy. I am protected."
Why this works: You're sealing in not just moisture, but INTENTION. Every time you catch your scent or touch your soft skin this week, you'll remember this moment of care.
PHASE 4: THE INTENTION SETTING (30 minutes)
You're glowing. Now let's get strategic about the week ahead.
What You Need:
Journal or planner
Your calendar/schedule
Optional: Thotumn Brew #25 (for manifestation work)
What You Do:
Review your week ahead. What meetings, tasks, or events are coming up?
Set 3 intentions for the week. Not goals - INTENTIONS. How do you want to FEEL?
Example: "I intend to move through this week with ease."
Example: "I intend to set boundaries without guilt."
Example: "I intend to attract abundance in all forms."
Identify potential challenges and decide NOW how you'll handle them with grace.
If you work with manifestation oils (like Thotumn Brew #25), anoint a candle and light it while you set your intentions. Dress the candle from bottom to top (bringing things toward you).
Write your intentions somewhere you'll see them daily - bathroom mirror, phone wallpaper, planner.
Why this works: You're not just hoping for a good week - you're DESIGNING it.

The Sunday Reset Mindset
Here's what I want you to remember, bew:
Self-care is not selfish. It's survival.
In a world that constantly demands from us - especially as Black women - taking time to REST, RESET, and NOURISH yourself isn't optional. It's ESSENTIAL.
Every Sunday you skip this ritual, you're starting the week already depleted. And you wonder why by Wednesday you're exhausted.
You can't pour from an empty cup. So fill yours. Generously. Unapologetically.
This ritual isn't just about glowing skin (though you WILL glow, trust me). It's about:
Honoring your body as sacred
Setting boundaries with your time
Prioritizing YOUR needs
Moving through life with INTENTION
Showing up as your best self
And when you show up full? Everything shifts.
Your Challenge This Sunday
Try this ritual. ALL of it. No skipping phases because "you don't have time."
You have time for what you prioritize. And bew, YOU should be the priority.
Set aside 2-3 hours this Sunday. Put your phone on Do Not Disturb. Tell your people you're unavailable. Lock the bathroom door.
And RESET.
Then come back and tell me how you feel. I bet you'll feel like a new person. Like you can handle whatever Monday throws at you.
Because you can. You just needed to remember. 🖤
